Academic Entrepreneurship Encouragement

At RedEmprendia's proposal, Spain's Ministry of Education has included in the Strengthening Subprogram of the 2011 International Excellence Campus Programme an entrepreneurship encouragement programme whereby university professors wanting to start up technology-based enterprises or to strengthen already running initiatives will be granted financial support to spend from six months to a year developing their projects.

In accordance with this agreement, Spain's Ministry of Education will invest 25.000 to 50.000 Euros to hire a substitute professor in each case. As a result, the recipient wanting to market or transfer a particular research result will be able to start up a technology-based enterprise or to strengthen an already running project —in this last case, as long as the project is less than three years old.

In turn, RedEmprendia, with the support of Banco Santander, will render a consulting and monitoring service in the following areas:

  • Business plan design.
  • Fund seeking (venture capital or similar).
  • Advice on legal and industrial property.

Also, RedEmprendia will analyse the best internationalization channels, especially for already running businesses —as long as they are less than tree years old— with one or more marketed products or services.
