In the 2010-2011 academic year, UNAM has 316.356 students, 36.172 academic staff, 40 postgraduate programmes, 83 master's degrees and doctorates and 89 degrees with 162 different syllabuses. It is organized into 13 colleges, 4 schools, 6 cross-disciplinary centres, 29 institutes and 16 research centres regarding humanities and scientific research, with 3.442 academicians who are accredited by the Mexican National System of Researchers. What is more, 35% of the scientific studies that are authored by Mexican professors are published by UNAM's researchers.

Likewise, UNAM has signed a great number of collaboration agreements. Through them, students coming from foreign universities can apply to an exchange programme and stay at UNAM up to two semesters.
UNAM shares postgraduate programmes with international institutions, and students can be granted an official degree if they finish them.

Also, UNAM has mobility programmes for foreign students such as the Exchange Programme for Postgraduate Students or the Programme for Visiting Postgraduate Students. Through such programmes, UNAM welcomes foreign students wishing to study subjects and/or to carry out postgraduate research visits, which can last a maximum of two semesters. The Government of Mexico grants scholarships to foreign students through several agreements that were signed with countries from all over the world. You can also benefit from the cooperation programmes for the mobility of researchers offered by Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología (CONACYT or “National Council for Science and Technology”).
